Instructions

Storage

  • Store henna cones in the freezer for up to 6 months.
  • Store henna powder in a cool dry area for up to 2 years.
  • When ready to use, defrost henna cones for 30-40 mins.
  • Only defrost the amount you plan to use.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight.

Stencils

  • Ensure the desired skin area is clean and dry.
  • Cut the stencil design to size.
  • Peel the stencil off from the white sheet.
    • DO NOT remove the clear film on the stencil yet.
  • Place the adhesive side on the desired area and press firmly to ensure the stencil sticks.
  • Remove the clear film on top of the stencil.
  • Cut small slits around areas the stencil is not sitting well so it lays flat against your skin.

Mixing Powder

  1. Grab a medium mixing bowl and mix the following ingredients: 50 grams of henna powder (1/2 cup), 25 grams of sugar (1/8th cup), 10 mL of clove oil (2 teaspoons), 1/4 cup room temperature water.
  2. Use a spatula to mix all ingredients thoroughly until they reach a "mashed potato" consistency.
  3. Once done mixing, place plastic wrap over the top entirety of your henna mixture and seal the edges of the bowl above the mixture so that no air can get in.
  4. Let your mixture sit in a warm area for 6-12 hours.
  5. Remove the plastic wrap from the bowl and stir. Add 1/4 cup of room temperature water and mix with a spatula to thin your mixture out.
  6. Transfer your henna paste to the piping bag.
  7. Fill in your pre-rolled cones and secure the top with tape. Each pre-rolled cone holds about 25 grams of henna. You should have enough for at least 7 cones. Check out our YouTube channel for video tutorials.

Application

  1. Ensure the desired skin area is clean and dry.
  2. Remove the plastic pin from your henna cone but DO NOT throw away the pin. If you have leftover henna, you will use the pin to seal your cone when storing.
  3. Fill in your stencil with an even layer of henna. Use the mini spatula to make sure the stencil is entirely filled in.
  4. Once your henna dries, spray the henna with a lemon-sugar mixture to seal and reactivate the paste. This darkens the stain.
    • Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and 4 tablespoons lemon juice to create the lemon-sugar sealant. Add to your spray bottle.
  5. Once your henna dries again, apply breathable tape to cover your henna design.
  6. Leave your henna on for 1-12 hours. The longer the henna stays on the skin, the darker the stain will be.
    • Tip: For convenience, apply the henna 2 hours before bed and sleep with it on. Use saran wrap or breathable tape to cover your henna.
    • Tip: Apply your henna 24-48 hours before special events so the stain fully develops. The henna design will be bright orange but darken over the next 24-48 hours.
  7. After removing the tape, follow aftercare instructions.

Aftercare

  • If possible, avoid wetting the area for the first 24 hours. Since henna is hydrophobic, water prevents the stain from darkening.
  • Scrape off any remaining henna paste with a spoon or DRY paper towel.
  • Keep the area moisturized with our organic coconut oil or a natural balm to ensure the stain lasts longer and to avoid any peeling.
  • If the coconut oil is solid, liquefy it by placing it in hot water for 90 seconds.
  • Avoid exfoliating the design to make it last longer.
  • With proper care, your henna stain should last 7-14 days.
